The presentation outlines key elements for self-training in the provision of online care, the history of telemental health and research that demonstrates clinical efficacy. Also covers: therapeutic frameworks and practice skills that generalize from in-person visits to on-line visits, ethical concerns, current practice standards and care guidelines addressing confidentiality, HIPPA compliance and risk management. Current licensing barriers and other administrative challenges will be reviewed. A case presentation will demonstrate the use of telemental health in a long-term case.
